The existence of this way of embroidering brings with it a long history.
For many centuries, and marked by tendences in the fashion and the style, this way of embroidering has been
adapting and transforming. The colors, the materials and the motives in the designs have evolved at the same
time with the epoch that has given them life.
This evolution does not mark simply material aspects, but besides one sees affected, among others,
for the purposes with which the seams will be used and for the motives for which the persons realize this type of crafts.
In its origins, the cross stitch, as other many stitches, was used principally to make all kinds of clothes
and it was a task destined only to the women. On the other hand, nowadays it is possible to use it to realize all kinds of things
(bibs, vests, tablecloths, pictures, towels and much more) and it is not a classified task in order that only the women can do.
